I bought those cardboard sunshades for the sensors and they helped only a little bit. What appears to have solved the problem is probably a combination of four things: 1) replacing the old sensors with these new ones; 2) using my laser level to perfectly match the vertical position of the two sensors; 3) using the sunshades I had previously purchased; and probably the most important 4) realigning not only the up/down tilt of the two sensors but also the in/out rotation. This latter bit may help you also. Even if the sensors are at the same height and they are seeing each other properly (i.e. the up/down tilt seems correct), I found that I could make the green alignment led even more solid by bending the mounting bracket with pliers and pointing the receiving sensor a little more towards the exterior of the house (i.e. it was pointing into the garage slightly while the sending sensor was pointing outwards slightly). This is not an instruction they show you in the manuals - they assume your sensor mounts are aligned perfectly, which is unlikely. With new sensors, the sunshades and a refreshed installation I have not had a single problem with the sensors being blinded. B001NXC5AG US

Johnson Level & Tool 99-028K Electronic Self-Leveling Dual Slope Horizontal/Vertical Rotary Laser System, Red, 1 Kit 2 This is not quite what you would expect Pa*** First of all I want the manufacturer to contact me about this. I spent $750 and I have to say I am disappointed. General impression is that it is kinda cheaply made. It just does not have a very solid feel about it insofar as the tripod, rod, and mechanism to hold the receiver to the rod. The quality of the receiver though is very problematic. Though it is not the most expensive part of this system, like the loss of the proverbial horseshoe nail its deficiencies make the whole thing nearly unusable. Anyway, I do a lot of contracting work even though I am a lawyer by profession. Here are the problems with this thing as I see them. 1. When you get the package, some of the stuff inside is rattling around. There is a reason for this. The plastic box which is durable and fairly well made, is not molded to hold the items inside. The foam insert for the laser itself only fits on one half of the laser; the other half seems to be an ill conceived misfit top. The charger, the bracket for the receiver, glasses, and a couple of other odds and ends just bounce around inside the case. This contributes to the one star value for the money. 2. The receiver. a. First of all, it is not as accurate as I was led to believe. Perhaps for outside work utilizing big machines maybe, but inside work, you need something else. b. It does not move very easily up and down the rod. c. The part that is really ridiculous is the screen on the receiver. It is so shiny that trying to see the leveling arrows and level line is utterly annoying to the point of making the receiver and thus the whole laser level system just a tad short of useless. Turning on the backlight only makes the situation worse and in fact, my guess is that it may only work if you are in complete darkness. d. There is no foam section to put the receiver in. There appears to be some kind of a slot in the foam insert for the laser itself but it is so tight that I fear I will break the receiver. Not only that, as I mentioned previously, the bottom and top part of the foam insert do not match up. This is the main reason for the two single star ratings. 3. Tripod and rod. I just have to say, these feel really cheaply made. I just dont have a good feeling about how long they will last. Again, I just think if you spend $750, some of these peripheral pieces should have a more sturdy feel to them. 4. Laser itself. As I said at the outset, it seems to work most of the time. Not sure why it will suddenly turn off and go into leveling mode again when not a living soul is within a 100 feet of the thing. The line itself appears to be about 1/8 to 3/16th's of an inch thick. What happens is that when you are trying to adjust the receiver to get a reading, you can actually move the receiver sometimes as much as 1/2 inch and it will still register an on point reading. And I did make sure the rod was upright ie side to side level and front and back level. Because the laser level was able to make sense of a very unlevel floor although we had to refine the readings with ordinary levels, I thought that 3 stars would be fair, if not a bit generous. If the manufacturer will contact me and fix these things, I will keep the level and update this review. Thank you. B074XX1DTC US

It is more than accurate for my needs. Outside, in bright sun the beam becomes more difficult to see, I'm sure the receiver Huepar sells would greatly improve it's use in bright sun. However, I bought this for inside use, and it seems well suited for that. This is not something you want to just toss into your toolbox, but it is a ruggedly built unit. KF*** So I was looking at other designs for weeks and bought this hexagon pattern on a whim. To say this was time consuming is an understatement. I think it took me about 10 hours to complete one long wall, albeit I do have very high ceilings. The progress pic attached is one pack. This wall took me almost exactly 5 packs of 360 decal sticks. As you can see it comes with a template. Be sure to line things up pretty accurately so the pattern doesn’t look sideways when you get to the end. I started along the entire top of my wall first and went to the floor in sections. This way I was able to keep track of my lines better. I did mess it up at one point and had to go back to fix maybe a 4ft section of it and and that alone took me a couple hours so taking the time to match the template accurately the first time, is worth it. It’s by no means perfect and if you stare at it long enough-you’ll notice but I don’t think any guests will notice. Knowing it’s slightly off in places kind of drives my adhd nuts, but beyond using a laser level to line things up, it just is what it is and there was no way I was doing that, since it was already taking an eternity to complete. I ended up peeling the sticks off the paper slightly and sticking them to my arm before I went up the ladder. Trying to balance the pencil, stencil and page of sticks was ridiculous when 12ft in the air. They were quite difficult to take off the paper one by one anyways. They still stuck perfectly fine, even after being stuck to my arm first. It’s been a couple weeks and none have fallen. All in all for $60 bucks, it came out pretty rad and it’s a quality product but idk if I’d do it again, just based on how long it took. The process would be much less frustrating with 2 people!
