The only reason I didn’t give it a complete 5 star rating is because of its user ease. The controls are a bit confusing. The fan has to the best of my knowledge, four settings and they all seem the same. There is very little difference to them. Also, it shuts off when it reaches the desired temperature, but after maybe a half hour it starts to kick on and off every 15 min or so, at around 30 seconds each time before shutting off again. This can be very frustrating if watching the television or trying to sleep. It is small but very efficient. I don’t write to many reviews unless the product is extremely good or extremely bad. Just a note here, since I am dumber than a sack of hammers, I often have to read instructions twice…sometimes 3 times. But, what I have found is, most manufacturers who actually make and design said tool, are very careful and clever when doing so and generally aim at one (maybe 2) very specific brands of the manufacturers of the splice they intend to crimp. With these, I’ve found they absolutely crimp “environmental splices” I.e. tyco etc just about as perfectly as the specified Raychem tools themselves. The key here, is that the image on page 3, or 4 shows the splice in the middle of the crimp jaws open. Maybe just for marketing sakes and quality picture. But, if you use the locator, you’ll find that it does indeed put the splice, exactly where it needs to be. Here’s the key, use the locator on both sides of the crimp. Trust me, you’ll be amazed at the results. Also, if you have a few extra bucks, burning a hole in your pocket, the Sargent (Oetiker) brand tool, is an excellent choice for environmental splices as well. Last, but not least, make sure your heat gun (no, not your wife’s aquanet hair dryer from 1989, with sticky hairspray stuck on it from years of abuse) is at the right temp to melt the adhesive uniformly. It somehow has incredible holding power, but is mostly fairly easy to remove (from smoother surfaces). This particular brand works well to hold up lightweight things, even when they're completely upside down. I currently have a powered usb hub mounted on the underside of my desk (which is made of somewhat glossy laminate wood) being held up perfectly with 2 strips of the wider roll of tape, and it has shown no signs of budging, despite my house sitting at a balmy 78 degrees for multiple days. Lesser nano tape will start to give up when the temperatures are a bit warmer, but this stuff holds strong. 20 feet is enough for basically any household projects, and having 2 different widths makes it easier to accommodate various jobs without having to waste anything. The instructions show removal being very easy with just some heat from a hair dryer, but I have not, will not, and do not trust nano tape on painted drywall walls. While it MIGHT come off just fine, it also might pull off not only your paint, but the top layer of drywall paper, and to me, it's not worth that risk - I use 3m command strips for anything going on a wall or any delicate surfaces. Nano tape always claims that it's washable and reusable, and that may very well be, but I've never done it, and do not plan to, as it's easy enough to cut another piece rather than having to wash and figure out a way to dry the tape without it sticking back down to whatever drying surface it's on. We ordered some other mounting strips that are removable that will hopefully work. Also, the advertisement shows what appears to be a darker protective pad behind the hair dryer, but the actual holder I received is simply one solid piece of painted metal. There’s no padding or scratch protection where the dryer rests. Overall, I like the sturdy metal construction and minimalist style, but I would like it much better if it were actually white, included the advertised protective padding, and gave you the option of screw mounting.
