Rod Desyne 4807-285 Bud Curtain Rod, 28 by 48-Inch, Satin Nickel 5 Beautiful and affordable PBZ*** This is a curtain rod, so there's not that much to get excited about - but I do love the look of this one and the price can't be beat. Packaging: It arrived in a box with the rod packaged in one plastic bag and the finials/decorative ends and mounting hardware packaged separately in protective styrofoam pockets and bubblewrap that had been taped to the rod. Everything seemed to be well-protected arrived in perfect condition. All of the hardware was included (yes, this rod comes with 3 mounting brackets and screws for each, as well as two plastic inserts into which you screw the finials - make sure not to lose these). Assembly/Installation: Seemed pretty comparable to other curtain rods I've installed lately. The brackets have a nice feature where you can unscrew a screw to (temporarily) remove the bracket hook, which gives you enough room to use your power screwdriver to install the bracket base. (Otherwise you have to screw in the top screw manually since there's not a lot of clearance beneath the hook). The rod is plastic, but firm; for my ~63"-wide window area and blackout curtains I did not need to use the center bracket to prevent sagging, but your mileage may vary. Installing the finials was as easy as taking them out of their protective packages and screwing them into threads on the ends of the rod. Look: Love this curtain rod! The rod is chrome-y plastic and not terribly interesting in and of itself, but that is not important to me since it's mostly covered by curtain. It's certainly plenty strong enough for my needs; the curtains hanging on it are not particularly long or heavy, but this rod could withstand quite a lot more weight if necessary. The finials - the decorative ends - are just gorgeous. They look a LOT more expensive than they are; in fact, they look a lot more expensive than the rod they attach to. The detailing is even better than in the picture and it really adds a nice touch of class to the room. Fortunately, it was not necessary with the exception of an accommodation of a curtain size in a color that was not available that she made happen. We like the curtains so much, we order two more sets. Note when ordering, make sure you order the curtains which come in a pair a few inches wider than the casing around your windows. For example, the width of the casing around one window was 44 inches. We ordered a set of curtains measuring 26x84 so the total width of the two 26 inch curtains equaled 52 inches leaving 4 inches on each side of the window casing. Once mounting hardware is installed you will end up with about 2.5 inches past the curtain brackets. I already had RH curtain rods, mounting brackets, and finnials so I did not need to order them. If you want to save quite a bit of money, I recommend going to Home Depot abd purchasing 1-3/8 iron closet bars, cutting them with a hacksaw to size, order specialty iron finnials (the ones I ordered came with the plugs that the finnials screw into), and order the rod brackets with the size that the 1-3/8 iron rod sets into.
