When it first turns on it prompts you to format the SD card and then goes into record mode. I like that unlike some cams it starts recording as soon as it is powered on. The screen is small, which is okay as it turns off after a minute or so but keeps recording. I think it would be a distraction otherwise. The top right corner of the screen shows the rear facing cam. The SD card is easily removable for transfer to a PC, rather than removing the camera itself. I think everyone should have a camera in their vehicles to protect themselves.
